This painting was begun on the day my niece was having her first child. I was still in transition, in my fourth temporary abode since arriving in New Mexico, able to use my oil paints for the first time in six months. The wind was blowing and wailing like a banshee and my emotions were bursting out with as much force as a child making its entry into the world. It sat for four months while I settled into my permanent home. Then Spring came and the winds called upon me to finish my own birth.
